Unleashed is the second studio album by American rapper Hurricane Chris, released December 21, 2009, on Polo Grounds Music. Recording sessions took place from 2008 to 2009. Production was handled by various people, including Play-N-Skillz, Shawty Redd, and Fiend. The album peaked at number forty-six, and twenty on he US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, and Top Rap Albums, respectively. Unleashed produced two singles which did not have success on music charts. Upon its release, the album received mixed or average reviews from critics.
Singles
The first official single to be released was "Halle Berry (She's Fine)" on April 15, 2009.[1] It peaked at number fifty-two on the Billboard Hot 100.[2] "Headboard" was the second official single, and was released on September 4, 2009.[3] It did not chart on the Billboard Hot 100.
Reception
Commercial performance
In the United States, Unleased peaked at number forty-six on R&B/Hip-Hop Albums,[4] and number twenty on the Top Rap Albums.[5] It did not chart internationally.
Critical response
Unleashed received mixed or average reviews from music critics.[6] At Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album received an average score of 54, based on 4 reviews, which indicates "mixed or average reviews".[6] David Jeffries of Allmusic gave the album three out of five stars.[7] The New York Times' Jon Caramanica gave an unfavorable review.[8] Rolling Stone gave the album two out of five stars.[9] Steve Juon of RapReviews.com gave the highest rated review, seven out of ten starts.[10]
